Anne Hutchinson banned for heresy.

Anne Hutchinson immigrated to Massachussetts Bay with her husband and family in 1634.Hutchinson began to hold weekly discussion groups in her home following Sunday services. After establishing her skill as the discussion leader, Hutchinson claimed to know which ministers and leaders had salvation and which did not. John Winthrop was leery of Hutchinson’s views and cautioned that

her voice could change the opinion of many. Winthrop and led the opposition to Hutchinson and charged that she and her followers were guilty of the Heresy. She was brought to trial before the General Court in 1637, found guilty because she had said that god had spoke to her and banished from the Bay Colony.
